Abstract

Academic libraries have traditionally functioned as knowledge repositories; yet, swift technology advancements, shifting teaching methodologies, and transforming research landscapes have broadened their role from mere information suppliers to key collaborators in academic growth. In India, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is instigating substantial changes in higher education, with libraries increasingly serving as catalysts for teaching excellence, research output, digital literacy, and knowledge creation. This article explores the changing function of academic libraries in enhancing university communities through the promotion of educational development and the facilitation of research advancement. Utilising contemporary literature, legislative frameworks, and advancements in Indian higher education, the research investigates the role of libraries in enhancing faculty development, student education, multidisciplinary cooperation, open knowledge initiatives, and data-informed research assistance.
